The Division of Anatomy (formerly the Department of Anatomy) has a long tradition of producing text books that are used world wide. The best known of these is Grant's Atlas of Anatomy, first published by J.C.B. Grant in 1943. Dr. Grant was chair of the department from 1930 to 1956. He produced the atlas when the war in Europe halted production of previously used European atlases. The atlas has been in continuous publication since. The current eleventh edition is edited by Professors Anne M.R. Agur and Arthur F. Dalley.

A second widely used text produced in the department is Ham's Histology. The first edition was published in 1950 by Arthur W. Ham, chair of the department from 1965 to 1966. Publication was continued by D. Cormack, who currently publishes histology texts independently.
